Mary Alice Montgomery Foxx, a native and resident of the Gainestown community, made her earthly transition early Saturday, Aug 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving daughters. Mary was born on Nov 13, 1934 to Frozene Salvage Montgomery and Nathaniel Montgomery.
Mary accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Good Hope AME Church of Gainestown, later uniting with the Antioch AME Church where she attended Sunday School faithfully until her health began to fail . She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and working outside.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Tommie Montgomery, Aaron Montgomery, and Roy Montgomery; two sisters, Sophie M. Montgomery – Fox and Carrie Dell Montgomery Hayden; one sister-in-law , Catherine Montgomery.
Left to cherish her sweet memories are her six loving daughters, Evonne ( Kenneth ) Starling, Ruby Yeldell, and Marilyn ( Richard ) Perry all of Charlotte , NC, Katherine ( William ) Foxx of Gainestown, AL, Ethel ( Steve ) Bledsoe of Maryland, and Theresa Flanagan of Birmingham; 12 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Lee Mitchell of Mobile and Bessie Mc Clain of Jackson, AL; with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
