Mary Andrea (Sullivan) Romano, 79, of Toms River, NJ died peacefully on Thursday November 14, 2019 at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. She was born in Saratoga Springs, NY on September 1, 1940 to Joseph Sullivan and Mary (Elliott) Sullivan. Mary graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Glens Falls, NY and received a scholarship for nursing at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn. This is where she met her late husband Louis V. Romano. They married on July 30, 1960 in Brooklyn, NY. The couple lived in Brooklyn and Queens for many years where they were involved with the activities of their four children in school, sports, music, and art. In 2000 Mary and Lou moved to Toms River, NJ.
Mary is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Mary Sullivan; her husband, Louis, who died in April, 2010 and her youngest son, James, who died on October 14, 2019. Mary is survived by her son, Louis, her daughter, Mary Francis, son, Joseph and daughter-in-law’s, Donna and Damarys. Her grandchildren are Kristin Ann (Michael), Megan, Jennifer, Matthew, Tristan, and Paris. She has seven great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her brother, Joseph Sullivan (Alice), sister, Kathleen Krogh (Elmer), sister, Joan Thornhill (Harry), and brother-in-law, John Romano (Mary Ann). Mary is also survived by John Boyle, her beloved partner for the last several years. Mary worked for many years at the Windsor Park Nursing Home in Queens, NY.
She also volunteered for a variety of organizations. She enjoyed Atlantic City and her many friends at “The Happy Hour” in Toms River where she sang Karaoke. She was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast, bocce player, pianist, artist, and reader. She was famous for her Italian cooking! Mary enjoyed family gatherings and travel. No matter what challenges she encountered, she overcame them with her laughter and comedic heart. She was one of a kind, and always danced to the beat of her own drum. Mary was truly the master of her fate and the captain of her soul.
She will forever be missed, by all those who were blessed to have known her. Source link
