Mary Agnes Mapes, 87, formerly of Harding Ave., Williamsport, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the Williamsport Home.

     Born June 23, 1924 in Bloomsburg, she was the daughter of Hurley and Cecelia (Stopper) Creveling.

     She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Annunciation Church, where she had been the Sunday School secretary for many years.  Mary retired from J.C. Penney Company after 30 years as the buyer of women’s clothes.  She was a former member of the Antlers Club, played bridge for many years, enjoyed traveling and loved being at home with her family and friends.

     She was preceded in death by her husband Sidney A. Mapes on April 15, 2008 and a brother Jack Creveling.

    Surviving are three children Sidney L. Mapes of Clearfield, John A. Mapes of Bradenton, Fl, and Deborah A. Bower (Jeffrey) of So. Williamsport, four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three brothers William and Robert Creveling both of So. Williamsport, and Richard Creveling of Williamsport.
