Mary A. Chaffin, 60, of 5915 North 1080 West, died Saturday (June 9, 2007) at 3:35 p.m. at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 20, 1945, in Ashland, Ky., to William Cordle and Iva J. King. She married William K. “Bill” Chaffin on April 16, 1976, in Portsmith, Ohio.
He survives, having cared for her through her years battling multiple sclerosis, along with three sons, Nevel E. Reynolds III of Elkhart, Jerry L. Reynolds of Shipshewana and Dwayne R. (Norma) Reynolds of Elkhart; one daughter, Teresa (Fred) Fleming of Elkhart; two brothers, Guy (Penny) Likens of Lancaster, Ohio, and Carl (Twila) Likens of Laurelville, Ohio; three sisters, Della (Junior) Campbell of Lancaster, Ohio, Pauline (Mike) Pinkstock of Lancaster, Ohio, and Doris (Randy) Hartsborn of Somerset, Ohio; her stepfather, George W. Likens of Ashland, Ky.; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Chaffin was a warehouse supervisor at Accra-Pac in Elkhart, now KIK Enterprises, for over 12 years until her health required her early retirement in 1991. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, flowers, spending time with her grandchildren and listening to old country-and-western and rock-and-roll tunes. She enjoyed cooking and kept a tidy home.
