Mary Beuthien, age 80, of Algona, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. Mary A. Beuthien, the daughter of Henry C. and Camilla M. (Nelson) Engstrom, was born on December 14, 1934 in Burt, Iowa. She graduated from Titonka High School. On February 3, 1956 Mary was united in marriage with John Otto Beuthien at the First Congregational Church in Algona. Mary worked in Directory Service in Algona where she would put the plat books together. She also worked nights at Hy- Vee until she retired. Mary loved the game of Pool and enjoyed being on Pool League.

She also enjoyed video poker gambling ,cat fishing: especially with her grandchildren, riding her motorcycle back in the “good old days”, following sports, watching old movies, listening to country music, giving her grandchildren presents, crocheting baby blankets and being around the younger generation. She lived life to the fullest and loved being “always young at heart”. Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her children: son, Douglas Beuthien of Algona, daughters, Darla (Darrell) Hanks of Forest City and Diane (Mike) Caufield of Dallas Center; daughter-in-law Phyllis Beuthien of Temecula, CA; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother Bob (Louise) Engstrom of Algona and numerous other nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by husband, John, in 1969; her son, Dale Beuthien: her parents, Henry and Camilla Engstrom and sister, Elaine Deal.
