Marvin William Rogers was born on August 20, 1916 in Cuba, Missouri. His parents died when he was young and he and his sister, Pauline, were raised in The Christian Children”s Home, St. Louis, Missouri. On his own at eighteen, he began working in Houston and was called into service in the air corps. When he was honorably discharged due to hearing deficiencies, he continued to work and study accounting which lead to his certification as a CPA. He married Velma Lois Brown on February 21, 1943. He lived the majority of his life in San Antonio working for Allen and Morris Drilling Contractors until 1965 when he formed the accounting partnership Cundiff and Rogers which later became Cundiff, Rogers and Solt. He loved to hunt, camp, ski and fish with his family and play bridge, golf and travel. He served in leadership positions in the Optimist Club, Toastmaster and Boy Scouts of America. He was an active member and leader at First Baptist and Manor Baptist in San Antonio and later an active member in the Canyon Lake United Methodist and First United Methodist of Boerne, Texas. In his later years, he served as President of Canyon Lake Water Company, volunteered at McKenna Hospital and loved caring for dogs, playing bridge, watching sports and taking daily walks. In 2004 he became one of the first residents of Morningside Independent Living in Boerne. He always had a smile and word of encouragement for those around him. He was an adored father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was preceded in death by his son John Valry Rogers, his wife Velma Lois Rogers, his sister, Pauline Scaggs and his grandson Ryan Charles Rogers. He is survived by his children Peggy and Mike Nipper, Jim and Glenn Rogers and grandchildren, Scott and Molly Nipper, Stacy and Blayne Mozisek, Tim Rogers, Jennifer Rogers as well as seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
