Marvin Paul Betts, 77, of Middletown, husband of Edith (Adler) Betts, died August 2nd at Hartford Hospital. Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Jack H. and Nettie (Kammerstein) Betts and had lived in Middletown since 1968. Marvin served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was active in the Cub and Boy Scouts, and a member of the board of directors of Civitan Club. Marvin was past commander of Jewish War Veterans of the United States, Department of CT, and Post 51, Middletown and a member of the Middletown Veterans Council. He was active member of Congregation Adath Israel, where he was a former board member and seating chairman. He was employed at CT Lighting Center and Cobalt Supermarket. Besides his wife of 51 years, he is survived by two sons, Jonathan Betts and his wife Kathleen of Madison, Michael Betts and his wife Eileen of Wethersfield; three beloved grandchildren, Kate, Thomas, and Alexandra; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Linda Adler of Middletown; nieces and nephews Barbara Axmacher, Susan Dickes (Timothy), and Alan Adler; and several great nieces and great nephews.
