Marv enjoyed sports, especially basketball and baseball and definitely was an outstanding team player.  He was proud that he was selected to be a Bat Boy for the 1976 Chicago Cubs baseball season.

Marv continued with basketball as a walk-on at Bradley University and was a reserve guard on the 1982 National Invitation Tournament Championship team. In the interview, after Dick Versace’s Bradley team was bypassed for the NCAA basketball tournament, Marv’s philosophy of a team is revealed: “Of the way we practiced Tuesday, we’re going to take it as a challenge,” said Marvin Meador, a reserve guard. “Nobody’s dwelling on the past.” (Washington Post, by Mark Asher, March 11, 1982)

Marv’s friends described him as a wonderful, bright, diligent, persistent, caring, creative, gentle, kind heart and soul person.  Marv in his quiet, unassuming, humble way, never realized he was admired, respected and liked by so many people. He was not forgotten by his friends.  Marv’s life ended when that huge heart he had for others suddenly stopped because of a heart attack.  A Gentle Giant entered God’s Kingdom that day in May, 2020.
