Marvin Kramer, age 93, of Algona died on Monday December 21, 2015 at the Algona Good Samaritan Care Center. Marvin Dennis Kramer, the son of Adam and Susan Evelyn (Brass) Kramer, was born on August 10, 1922 in a farm household near Bode, Iowa. He was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph and attended school there. During WWII Marvin served in the Army in the Phillipines and Korea. Marvin married Irene Pauline Eischeid on August 29, 1950 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. They farmed 10 years near St. Joe. They then purchased a farm near Algona and farmed until moving into Algona in 1983. He was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church where he had served on the finance board and the Hagg-Turner American Legion Post #90 for over 50 years. Marvin grew up with a love of the outdoors and enjoyed trapping, fishing and hunting. He also loved cards, bike riding, dancing and spending time with his grandchildren. Left to cherish Marvin’s memory is his wife of 65 years, Irene; children, Gordon (Roxanne) Kramer of Novi, MI, Susan (Ennis) Diggs of Brooklyn Park, MN, Martin (Barb) Kramer of Algona, Allen (Jean) Kramer of Algona, Nancy (Doug Swartz) Erickson of Algona, Linus Kramer of Algona and Donald (Tracy) Kramer of Roseville, NC; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Laura Kramer of Algona. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerome Kramer; brothers, Andrew and Vernon Kramer; sisters, Adeline Marso and Margie Knierim; and a son-in-law, Leslie Erickson.
