Isaacs, Marvin – After a lengthy and courageous battle, Marvin Isaacs , 84, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, died at home holding his loving wife’s hand. Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 23, 1928, he was the son of the late Philip and Tillie Isaacs. Marvin’s family moved to Newburgh and settled in Beacon when he was 7. He was Valedictorian of Beacon High School and attended Drexel University. Marvin proudly served our country in the U.S. Army at West Point. While in High School and after college and his military service, Marvin worked in the family business, Beacon Furniture Company, until he retired in 1980. Marvin, a Mason, was a member of the Beacon Hebrew Alliance and Agudas Israel, Newburgh Synagogues. He was also a Volunteer Fireman in Beacon. December 29, 1963 Marvin married Esther Harris in Kingston, NY. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Marc Isaacs and his wife Mary of Glenmont, NY, Marcy Hasin and her husband David of Highland Mills, NY, and Stephen Isaacs of the State of Israel; his grandchildren Hannah Hasin, Philip Hasin, Molly Isaacs and Jack Isaacs. Marvin was a strong, kind, selfless, and generous man, who devoted his life to his wife, children, and grandchildren.
