Marvin Haynes entered this life on October 7, 1936, as the second son of Teasie and Ernest Haynes, in Far Rockaway, NY. He spent his childhood in Far Rockaway: attending PS 42 and graduating from Far Rockaway High School in 1953. Marvin did not play any high school sports, but he was still a great participant.
He then enlisted in the Air Force and served his country for
4 years. He was stationed in Tampa, FL while serving. While in the Air Force, Marvin married and from this union came three sons.
When Marvin left the Air Force, he returned to Far Rockaway, where he held a few different jobs. He began to develop a talent for shoe making and shoe repair, a talent that was taught to him by his cousin, “Uncle Jack”. He worked at the local drive-in theatre, Sunrise Drive-In, in Valley Stream, NY, collecting fares and selling popcorn while keeping up with the latest movies.
He then took a job and retired from a company named Rota Fixtures in the late 80s where he worked as the assistant manager until the owner sold him the company and he later retired. At that point, Marvin relocated to Orange Park, FL where he lived until his sunset on January 12, 2022.
Cherished members of Marvin’s family who have pre-deceased him include his parents; his son, Marvin Aaron and his daughter, Keisha and all of his brothers, Raymond, Eddie and Henry Haynes.
Loved ones left to cherish his memory include, his companion of 50 years, Leeida; his daughters; Chantay and Shelia; son-in-law, Shawn; his sons, Kenneth (Lucille) and Rory. He was also dad to Tony, Dwyne and Sheron; his sister, Ernestine and a host of grandchildren. He was also uncle, friend and loved one to many.
