Marvin Hackbarth, age 87 of Algona, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at West Bend Health and Rehabilitation. Masks are required for all events. Marvin Herman Hackbarth, the son of Edward and Martha (Hintz) Hackbarth, was born on May 3, 1934 in Union Township in Lone Rock, Iowa. He graduated from Algona High School in 1952. On April 22, 1956 he married Iris Wardlow in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Together the couple raised their three children. Marvin was an Area Manager for Pioneer until his retirement in 1986. After his retirement, Marvin owned and operated Hackbarth Mowing where he mowed and tilled gardens. Marvin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder and Usher. He enjoyed playing Euchre, square dancing in his younger years, participating in Demolition Derby and #23 Stock Car Racing and Pit Crew. After Marvin quit racing, he loved attending to watch as well as watch NASCAR. Marvin enjoy snowmobiling and traveled to eight different states to ride the snowmobile trails. He received the Governor’s Award for teaching snowmobile safety. You would often find Marvin being the ring man for auctions and finding things to do to keep busy. Marvin is survived by his wife of 65 years, Iris of Algona; daughters, Diane (Scott) Grant of Algona and Marla (Dan) VanDyke of Vinton; a son, Scott (Amanda) Hackbarth of Spanaway, Washington; five grandchildren, Keith (Sandi) Dahlhauser of Algona, Dustie Dahlhauser of Grain Valley, MO, Travis (Bambi) Dahlhauser of Anamosa, Windy Grant of New Mexico and Tyler Grant of Algona; six great grandchildren, Tyler, Corey and Anthony Dahlhauser, Mackenzie Hogan and Tristan and Sylvia Dahlhauser; three great great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Aayden and Aashyr and sister, Lucille Reinking of Sumner. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Edward and Martha Hackbarth and brother-in-law, Lorenz Reinking.
