Marvin Glen Mansfield, 65, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011. Marv, a native of Arizona, was born July 1, 1946 in Yuma, AZ and graduated from Yuma High School in 1964.

He earned a football scholarship to Arizona Western College and transferred to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff to earn his degree in Business Administration. He married his wife of 43 years, Jean, in 1968. He later returned to NAU to obtain a masters degree in Education.

His first teaching job was at Camp Verde High School where he taught business. He coached the JV football team his first year of teaching and took his football team through an un-defeated, un-tied and un-scored upon season. He was also the JV baseball coach that same year. After three years teaching in Camp Verde, Marv was hired to teach in the business department at Coconino High School.

There he assisted in coaching varsity football and wrestling. He finished his career teaching at Flagstaff High School where he retired in 2002. Marv enjoyed boating on Lake Powell and RVing across the country and Canada.

He also was a member of the local Ham Radio Club and the Grand Canyon Café’s morning breakfast club. Marv is survived by his wife, Jean, his sons Steve (Monique) of Denver, CO and Scott (Stephanie) of Flagstaff, AZ and four grandchildren.

He also is survived by his sister, Anne Mansfield of Denver, CO and brother, Michael Mansfield of Las Vegas, NV.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Mansfield.
