Marvin Eugene Wilder, 90, of Concord, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023.
Marvin was born September 5, 1932, in Missouri to the late Howard and Goldie Wilder. Marvin was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Iris Faye Wilder; his son, David Wilder and brothers, Howard, Gerald and Harold Wilder.
He lived an immensely rich life. Growing up in Missouri, he left home and snuck into the army at 15. After returning home from serving abroad he set out to build the rest of his life (and never stopped). He built a career, he built businesses, he built dollhouses and playhouses and real houses (including his own). He built a collection of interesting collections. He built friendships and he built a family (a rather impressive one, at that). He built a reputation as The Boss (sorry Springsteen), as a great source of advice, as a feisty but benevolent leader, as a distributor of 50-cent pieces and as the beloved patriarch of our family. He was a husband, father, grandfather (the best) and eventually a great-grandfather. He built something many hope to but rarely do… a legacy. He (along with Faye) was the center of gravity for all manner of folks, but most of all us. He will be missed beyond the reach of any earthly tape measure and his life and the memories he built will be the stuff of family legend.
We love you Grandpa, give Faye and David and everyone else a giant hug for us.
