Marvin Edward Zeilinga, of New Whiteland, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He would have been 71 years old in ten days.

Marvin was born on February 13, 1951 in Indianapolis to the late Edward Zeilinga and Velma (DeRee) Zeilinga-Richardson.

Marvin proudly served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972 and was a decorated Vietnam Veteran after two tours of duty. For his military service and accomplishments, he was appointed to rank Private First Class and in 1970 was awarded three Bronze Service Stars, The Army Commendation Medal, The Air Medal, and two Purple Hearts. He was a lifetime member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), The American Legion Post 252, and The Disabled American Veterans (DAV). In 1996, Marvin was presented with the Distinguished Service Award by the Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation for his ongoing support and donations.

Marvin is survived by his son, Michael Kafoure of Whiteland, IN; his three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; his five siblings, John L. Zeilinga Sr. of Chicago, IL, William Klepper of Nashville, IN, Tina (Jerry) Wise of Nineveh, IN, Angela Richardson of Franklin, IN, and Russell Richardson of Indianapolis, IN; several nieces and nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death by his former wife, Margaret Kafoure-Zeilinga, his parents, Edward Zeilinga and Velma Zeilinga-Richardson, and three brothers, John Zeilinga, Steve Zeilinga, and Joseph Richardson.
