Marvin E. Zinn, 88 of Halleck Community passed away on November 13, 2009 after a long battle with cancer with family by his side. He was born August 20, 1921, the son of the late Carl and Joise Zinn. He was a lifelong residence of Halleck community.
He worked on the family farm until he enlisted in the army in 1945. Marvin spent his overseas deployment in the Philippines until his honorable discharge in 1946. In 1947 he married Catherine Harter and they lived happily together for 60 years and the same year he started Zinn Music Supply in Grafton, WV. He told a lot of people that he sold the first television in Taylor County in 1953. He successfully ran the business for 25 years and made many friends in that time. After retirement, he devoted more time to his antique cars. He worked very hard and won four national trophies. Marvin was an active member of the Antique Automobile Club of America for 45 years. He was also a member of the Brown’s Halleck Community Association and the VFW Post 3081 of Grafton. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed turkey hunting the most. He enjoyed just being in the wood’s in the spring looking for mushrooms. In the last year and a half, he took up oil painting and some of his painting’s can be found in businesses around Grafton. He will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife Catherine Zinn in 2008; one sister, June Stoughton.
Surviving are two sons, Larry E Zinn and wife Linda of Morgantown, WV, Dale and wife Donna of San Antonio, TX; four grandchildren, Christina Lanham, Phillipi, Michael Zinn and wife Monica, Independence, Jason Zinn, Houston, TX, Amanda Hepburn and husband Brian, Rapid City, SD; two step grandchildren, Sean Vanover, Lea Ann Flennikin and husband Bill all of Rice’s Landing, PA; four great grandchildren, Ryan, Drew, Lane and Cole; two step great grandson, Alexander and Travis.
