Marvin Donald Hunt, age 89, passed away Thursday December 24,2020. Marvin was a native of Huntsville, born in his Grandpa Jarrell’s house on the outskirts of town on December 23, 1931. Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Wilma Jean Poole; sister Faye Nelson; sons Mark Hunt (Cynthia Palmer), Gary Hunt (Carol Lenoir); grandchildren Jennifer Hunt Harp (Michael Harp), Harley Hunt (Melissa Kaiser), Emily Hunt and Laura Hunt; great-grandchildren Ashlyn Harp and Ainsley Harp. He was preceded in death by his son Steven Hunt, parents Ernest and Alice Jarrell Hunt, and brothers Edwin, Iral and David Hunt.
Marvin was a retired veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, having served 4 years in the Navy and 16 years in the Air Force. After retiring from the military, Marvin moved his family back to his hometown of Huntsville where he worked for various RTC Defense Contractors. In 1995 Marvin retired from work on Redstone Arsenal enabling him to spend more time with his wife Wilma and their children’s families.
Marvin lived a full and happy life – he was an avid reader, an exceptionally talented artist and a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed being around his children and their families and imparted upon them his values of free thought, honesty, hard work and love of family. We are grateful to have had such a loving and decent man as the cornerstone of our family. We will miss him immensely.
