Born in Oak City, North Carolina, Mr. Copeland, an aerospace mechanic, came to this area in 1956 from Titusville. He was a D-Day survivor serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, worked at the Cape from Mercury through Apollo, and owned Copeland Phillip 66 in Edgewater during the 1960’s. He also owned a paving business and was a Public Works Director in Edgewater when he retired. Mr.

His family was very important to him and include the following survivors: his wife of 30 years, Vivian, 3 sons, Delton and Kristin Copeland of Melbourne, Robert and Donna Copeland of Edgewater, and Kurt and Sarah Ingle of Oviedo, 3 brothers, Maurice of Columbia, South Carolina, Melvin of Edgewater, and Jerry of Amarillo, Texas, 1 sister, Ruby Lee of Columbia, South Carolina, 5 grandchildren, Joyce, Bobby, Ava, Christina, and Alicia.
