Martin T. Brown, (Marty) age 67, passed away peacefully at home on April 13th with his wife Paula by his
side, following a short battle with cancer.

was the oldest of the four siblings. He graduated from Capitol High school in 1971
Marty was always a hard worker, with a very strong work ethic. He started mowing lawns at a young age,
then at 13 he started working as a busboy at O’Michaels and Western Cafe. He sold chocolates and had
numerous paper routes. He started working for Peasley Transfer and Storage in 1968. Marty moved onto

lower 48 states. Later, wanting to stay home with his family, he would work locally for Consolidated
Freightways, then onto Roadway, when CF shut down nationwide. He would then move to Western
Construction, a whole new adventure that he truly enjoyed until retirement. After retirement he and a
friend, Vic Noble, started their own business doing construction and remodeling. He said he was always
proud that he had never been fired from a job.
Marty was accomplished and proud of his career, where he made many lifelong friends, many of whom
he was still in constant contact with. He spent a lot of good times fishing, hunting, and camping with many
of them.
Marty loved being outside and working in the yard, and the cold beer that came after. He was the
neighborhood yard monitor. If a neighbor’s yards needed mowed, he would take care of it.
Marty also loved going to Jackpot (or any casino for that matter) and playing cards. He loved the 21
tournaments, where he took 2nd place in 2008, and 3rd place in 2012. His last trip there was right before
his birthday in Oct. 2019. He played in Cribbage tournaments as well, with his dad, brother Steve and
daughter Shawna.
He was an avid bowler, participating in numerous leagues, even working at the bowling alley. Marty
spent his Saturday mornings coaching his kids in the Pee Wee and Junior leagues. He traveled with his
bowling teams to tournaments for years. When Westgate bowling alley burnt down it was devastating to
him. He sat out in a trailer with others and helped to guard the building from vandalism. He loved that
place so much, it was like a second home to him.
Marty was involved in martial arts, which he enjoyed with his children, even competing and traveling to
competitions. He was proud that he and the kids got to meet Ed Parker, who was the founder of American
Kempo Karate.
A strong interest in UFOs, crop circles, and astronomy, drove him to get involved with MUFON as a
certified investigator.
always had everyone looking up at the sky.
Marty’s biggest love, besides his family and friends, was MUSIC . He had a large range of what he
listened to, but was most passionate about rock n’ roll. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who
could stump him on music trivia. He loved going to concerts and hanging out in his garage, listening to
music loudly for hours…just ask the neighbors !! He shared his knowledge and the love of music with his
children and grandchildren every chance he got. He wanted them all involved in music as much as
possible. He always said- “Music makes the world go round.”
Marty’s heart knew no bounds; he was a generous individual who loved everyone. He was passionate
about his family and friends, always wanting everyone to have fun and be happy. He had a personality
that made it easy for people to talk to him. Seems like no matter where he went, he knew somebody.
Marty’s friends were so important to him; they were his second family. The group of guys he surrounded
himself with during his school years remained close friends for life. His Annual brothers held a special
place in his heart . He always stressed when getting ready for their yearly campout; worrying he would not
have enough food for everyone. However, he loved to plan meals and couldn’t wait to hit the dirt road.
They were all his brothers for life, and he loved every one of them.
In 2017, Marty vacationed in Maui, even though he swore he would never fly. It ended up being the trip of
a lifetime with some of his favorite memories. He said he wanted to move there and started looking for
property. The next trip there would be a one-way ticket. Although he never got another trip, the family is
hoping to take some of his ashes there for him one day.
Marty is survived by his wife; Paula and his children Tom (Allison), Alisha, Shane, Shawna, Stacy (Jay).
Grandchildren; Cody, David of Iowa. Taylor, Nicholas ,Aidan, Calin, Conor, and Oliver, all of Boise,
Idaho. Siblings; Sandy (Mike) Mitchell of Boise, and Vince Maruska of Florence, Or. Kitty Brown of Boise,
Idaho. And numerous nieces and nephews.
Marty is preceded in death by his Mom Beverly, Father Tom, Brother Steve, all of Boise, Idaho

The family would like to send a special “Thank you“ to Amy J, Merrill, Daniela, and Tami from St Lukes
hospice, for the special care and dedication they gave him. A special thanks to the close friends and
family who helped Marty though his final months.
Time for me to fly, Oh, I’ve got to set myself free,
Time for me to fly, And that’s just how its got to be,
I know it hurts to say goodbye,
But it’s time for me to fly
