Martin (Marty) Herbert Schearer, 52, passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2023, at his home in Downingtown, PA.
Marty was raised in Havertown, PA. He was a fun, mischievous child, invariably getting into trouble, while being a fierce defender of his younger siblings. As teens, Marty and Susan met at the 7-11 where he worked, and they went on to play together in a garage band. While dating, they attended Aldan Union Church, where Marty put his faith in Christ.
As an adult, Marty loved being an uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Family was very important to him. He also loved pizza and was a self-professed connoisseur who basically ate pizza every day. Marty joked that on the rare occasion he did not eat pizza, he would eat Stromboli instead! Marty’s love for animals, especially dogs, transcended his love for pizza. Through the years, Marty had the opportunity to raise and love eight wonderful dogs. Marty was a firm believer that all living things deserved a chance at life, and personified the saying, “he would not hurt a fly”.
Marty was also passionate about the numerous hobbies he enjoyed throughout his life including dirt bike riding as a child, motorized dirt bike riding as a teen, and then riding his Harley Sportster as an adult. Furthermore, Marty fished, golfed, flew a Cessna plane, and then of course played music.
Marty was the son of the late Herbert F. Schearer III and Brigid A. Schearer of Havertown, PA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Susan Stafford Schearer, sister Dawn Neiley (nee Schearer), and brother Raymond (Heidi).
