Martin Robert Joyce, 79, of Jacksonville, IL, died Dec. 2, 2021, at his home.
He was born Aug. 28, 1942, in Carrollton, the son of John and Pryntha Bryant Joyce. He married Josephine “Jo” Delores Marquardt on July 30, 1966, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Valmeyer and she preceded him in death on Jan. 25, 1990.
He is survived by one son and two daughters, Patrick Joyce, Rebecca Joyce, and Debra Joyce, all of Jacksonville; brothers and sisters-in law, Joe and Sharon Marquardt of Valmeyer, and Mary and Bob Andress of Waterloo; and special friends, Johny Garde of Jacksonville and Chuck Baker of Murrayville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother-in-law, John Marquardt; and parents-in-law, Leo and Evelyn Marquardt.
Mr. Joyce was a longtime farmer in the Jacksonville area. He was a member of Church of Our Saviour, and had restored the Cross at Calvary Cemetery. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Martin loved restoring cars, tinkering, and was a history buff.
