Martin J. Janiak, 91, of Danvers, passed peacefully on December 21, 2020, from a combination of prostate cancer and old age. He was the son of the late Martin and Stella (Kaczmarek) Janiak.
He was an amazing father; kind, generous, and passionate about family values to ensure his kids were raised in the same manner. He was able to support his family while finding quality time to share in his favorite hobbies: fishing was his passion most often shared with his son Marty Jr. locally at the Ipswich River amongst other places and youngest daughter Diane off Bear Island in Meredith, NH. He loved sports, playing cards with friends and family, horse track betting in Revere with his brothers and cribbage. Any time he could spend with his family he took the opportunity to do something fun.
A graduate of Revere High School, Martin enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1951 as a Staff Sergeant.
Martin worked at MIT, Lincoln Laboratory for over 40 years right out of the Air Force. He was involved with many amazing projects such as Star Wars and was able to travel to destinations such as Guam, Japan, and Hawaii to name a few! Martin worked at Lincoln Lab for 36 years. They carried him another 8 years when he was deemed legally blind.
Martin coordinated having a barn built and riding paddock in the backyard so his oldest daughter Donna could keep her horse Dusty close by. Since he was an electrician by trade, he did all the wiring himself.
Once retired, he and his wife went to several Braves games in Atlanta and routinely traveled to Foxwoods to enjoy many a weekend stay together gambling, shopping and eating at the Rainmaker buffet. They spent over 67 years together in a loving marriage, needless to say, they were inseparable.
