Martin Enslow Doherty, 78, took God’s hand in Boise, Idaho on September 20, 2010. Martin was the sixth of seven children born to Frank and Hanna Doherty on September 11, 1932 in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. Martin completed his education in St. John, met and married Sandra L. Campbell having one son, Stephen. Moving to Carlsbad, New Mexico in 1957 where Martin began his career in the life insurance business that would span 50 years of his life. After living in Oklahoma City, OK, the family moved to Boise in 1965 where Martin opened a branch of Global Life Insurance. Martin and Sandra divorced in 1968 and she preceded him in death. Martin married Irene Jayo Parker in 1972 and they shared 34 years together.
Martin enjoyed family, travel, the Idaho mountains, traditional values and the close friendships developed with those who knew him. Raise your glass, “the best to the best.”
Martin is survived by siblings, Marian, Cecily and Micheal; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Cindy Doherty; grandchildren, Travis, Benjamin and Katrina Doherty; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Gwen, Hailey and Shyia.
The family would like to thank the staff of Applewood Assisted Living and the staff of Harrison’s Hope Hospice for their loving care in Martin’s final days.
