Martha Spears, November 25, 1953 – June 13, 2014.

Martha Lucille Spears, age 60 of Belton, passed away on June 13, 2014 in a local nursing facility, from complications of Multiple Sclerosis. She was born on November 25, 1953 in Midland, Texas and graduated from Westchester High School in Houston. As a child, Martha enjoyed Brownie and Girl Scouts and decorating for a hobby. While in high school, she was active in choir and orchestra and received high awards for academics.

She was a life long member of the Baptist Church and a student of the Bible study groups. Martha attended Houston Baptist College, Texas A&M University, and graduated from St. Edwards University in Austin in 1992. She battled M.S. while attending night school to finish her degree, as well as working as a legal secretary until 1993 when the M.S. overtook her body. She always enjoyed traveling, family and friends, and became a computer whiz when she could no longer be mobile.

She took an interest in genealogy and spent hours researching her family history on her computer. She fought the good fight and underwent strenuous rehabilitation until the Multiple Sclerosis incapacitated her legs and arms. She is preceded in death by her mother, Juel Merle, a sister Patricia, and husband Steve. She is survived by her daughter, Diana Levy and husband Chris; two grandchildren, Emma and Jack; her father, Dan Spears and stepmother Polly; two brothers, Dan, Jr. and John; a step-sister, Susan Smith, as well as nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
