West Chester, Ohio – Martha (Marti) Lawrence-Kleeman, 78, former Muncie resident, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Bethesda North Hospital, in Montgomery, Ohio, following an extended illness.
Marti was born March 5, 1935, to Fredrick and Eula Stevens in Elwood, IN. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1953, from Holy Cross School of Nursing in South Bend in 1956, and attended Ball State University.
Marti worked as an RN at St. Johns Hospital in Anderson, IN, Community Hospital in Indianapolis, Riverside Methodist in Columbus, Ohio, and Miami Valley in Dayton, Ohio. She was Director of Nurses at Chateau Nursing Home (Waters of Muncie) from 1975 to 1976.
Marti belonged to the American Medical Association of Operating Room Nurses. Marti was a member of White Shrine of Jerusalem, Esther Chapter #14 where she was a Past Worthy High Priestess. Marti was also a member of OES, (Order of Eastern Star), Chapter #104, where she was a Past Worthy Matron. She was also a Past Bethel Guardian of Job’s Daughters International Bethel #25 Muncie, (International Order of Job’s Daughters).
