On Monday, May 4, 2020 Martha “Marcie” Hamlen, 89 of Greensboro, Maryland, formally of Linthicum, Maryland passed away peacefully in Dover, DE. She was born in Glen Burnie, Maryland to the late Raymond and Martha Moreland on January 5, 1931. She attended Glen Burnie Senior High and went on to marry the late, Charles A. Hamlen. Marcie and Charlie went on to open their own restaurant in Severna Park, known as Hamlen Bar & Restaurant for 26 years, it was a family business were Marcie shined. She loved the hard work, and was exceptional in customer service. She always rose to the challenges of owning her own business, especially with the changing of times, only to go from better to great. Outside of running the family business, her favorite hobby was football. Marcie loved her Baltimore Colts, she loved them so much she starting with running one of two buses from Hamlen’s to Baltimore for the Colts games. Marcie was the largest season ticket holder the Baltimore Colts had for 17 years, she ended with 5-6 buses from the restaurant to the Colts games every Sunday home game. Marcie was also the President of the Colts Corral 27 of Severna Park, MD.  Another title Marcie had was Honor Queen of Jobs Daughter at Glen Burnie’s Bethel #16. Marcie Hamlen was truly loved and respected by all that met her. As her daughters would say “Mom reached in and touched people’s souls and their hearts.”

Marcie is survived by her daughters, Cathy Hamlen, Carla (Cheryl) Hamlen, Cheryl (Rob) Harbison, her grandchildren, Chris (Pamela) Hamlen, Charles (Alex) Hamlen, Kyle Hamlen, Shannon Harbison, Taylor Harbison, Robby Harbison, five great-grandchildren, Caradyn, Cormac, Cwen, Aamyiah, and Kinlee Hamlen. Marcie was predeceased by her loving son, Charles “Chuck” Hamlen, brothers, Raymond, Theodore, Otto, and Richard Moreland.
