Martha Lee Earnest, age 88, of Rensselaer passed away on March 24, 2010, at the Jasper County Hospital. Born in Hillsdale, Indiana on September 6, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Carrie M. (Malone) and Herschel J. Stewart.
She was a graduate of Marion High School. Martha was a former resident of Lebanon, Dana, Marion, and Mansfield, Indiana.
On July 6, 1941, in Marion, Martha married William Earnest who preceded her in death on June 27, 2001.
Martha was a homemaker and worked as a secretary for 15 years at Schumate Business Forms in Lebanon, Indiana. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Rensselaer and a 30-year member of the Rebekkah Lodge. Surviving is one son, James (Claudia) Earnest of Rensselaer, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Susan Earnest and Linda Kensler.
