Martha Lucille Kirkpatrick, age 80, of Taneytown, Maryland died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster, Maryland.
Born October 4, 1930 in Madison County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Velta Grimsley Carpenter. She was the wife of Elmer Kirkpatrick to whom she was married for 54 years.
She worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. in the fingerprint division from 1949-1958 before becoming a homemaker. She was an avid Washington Redskins fan.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughter, Joyce Kirkpatrick of Elkridge, MD; daughter, Judy Winfield and husband, Ted of Mt. Airy, MD; son, Jeffrey Kirkpatrick and wife, Linda of Bel Air, MD; sisters, Dorothy Martin of Orange, VA & Gladys Hester of Louisa, VA; brothers, Jack Carpenter of Alabama & Robert Carpenter of Natural Bridge, VA; grandchildren, Melanie, Ross, TJ, & Tyler; and several nieces and nephews.
