Martha Kershaw Jennings quietly transitioned to etemal rest on Tuesday, November 17, 2015

at Montefiore Hospital in New York City.

Martha was the first child of six born to the late Lawrence and Malisia Kershaw on August 20, 1926 in Sumter, South Carolina. She was educated in the public school system in Sumter until she relocated to New York City to complete her education and seek employment.

It was during her time in New York City that she attended and later became a member of Ephesus Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Martha was a devoted wife to Stanley and a wonderful motherto her four children. She took joy in preparing wonderful, tasty, and nutritious meals for her family. Her talent as a seamstress ensured that her children were always properly clothed. She was also blessed to be able use this talent as a means of providing extra funds for educating a growing family.

After years of being a homemaker, Martha began her career outside of the home. She was employed by the State Insurance of New York City and worked diligently until her retirement in 1996.

Martha had a very sweet spirit and was kind to everyone she met whether it was at work, at her church, or in her neighborhood. She willingly helped those who were in need and has helped a great deal of people during her lifetime. She was an active memberof her church until health problems limited her involvement. At the time of her death, she was a member of CityTabernacle Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was truly a kind and caring person.

In her declining years Martha was lovingly cared for by Miss Sandra Providence. Sandra’s devotion and dedication to our mother will always be deeply appreciated by the family.
