Martha Jean Torain Buford was born November 20, 1951 in Lawrence County, Alabama to Novella Torain Nelson and the late William Henry Nash Jr. She departed this life November 12, 2012 at Decatur Morgan Hospital-Decatur Campus.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Canaan M.B. Church in Lawrence County and later united with Westside M. B. Church in Decatur, Alabama.
She attended Lawrence County Schools and Lakeside High School. Due to her illness she became disabled.
Martha Jean was preceded in death by her father, William H. Nash, Jr., her daughter, Shevon Buford, two brothers,Dr. William O’Neal Nash and Michael “Tick” Nelson.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a daughter, Sabrina Green of Sierra Vista, AZ; her mother, Novella T. Nelson of Decatur; stepmother, Willadene Nash of Hillsboro; grandmother, Susie Torain of Hillsboro; brothers, William A. (Vanessa) Nash, Jerry (Cynthia) Nash, Willie D. (Sherye) Garth, Tommy L. Nelson, William J. Nash; sisters, Mary A. Clark, Brenda (Ronnie) Orr, Elois (Percy) Garth, Vicky Ball, Dr. Shelia (Kirby) Nash-Stevenson, Aretha Woodard and Lutissa (Richard) Parker; 4 grandchildren, Rodtavius, Jamel, Jarquise and Corvelle Buford, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
