Martha “Jane” Servies73, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 13, 2013. Jane was born on July 9, 1939, in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Maurice Cox Huffman and Opal Ruth (Baker) Huffman. She attended St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. She will be remembered by many as a woman of elegance and grace, with an undying love for her friends and family.

Jane grew up in New Ross, Indiana where she graduated from New Ross High School in 1957. During her youth, she was very active in 4-H where she received awards for her talents in dressmaking and cooking.

Jane graduated from Purdue University in 1970 with a B.S. in Education. While raising her family in Crawfordsville, she continued her education to become just 4 hours shy of completing her Masters Degree. Upon her graduation from Purdue, Jane taught Home Economics and Physical Education at Darlington Junior High School in the North Montgomery School District for 5 years.

She then spent 7 years in the Insurance Sales business in Indianapolis, where she began her work with the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the U.S. While there, Jane was a member of the National Leaders Corporation, where she earned a Production Growth Award and several trips to exciting destinations around the country. Jane also worked for Great American Reserve Insurance Company where she was the first female associate in management in its first 60-year history, and the first person in the company to sell a Million Dollar Whole Life Contract.

In late 1983, Jane headed for Texas where she gained over 7 years of experience as a Realtor in the Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio sales market. She later returned to Indianapolis in 1991 where she became a sales leader with Signature Homes, Inc. and Mackey and Company, Inc. in Carmel for nearly 9 more years.

Jane’s most recent employment was with the National Asian Pacific Center on Aging where she worked on Water Compliance Monitoring for the State of Indiana.

Jane is survived by her adoring children, Alisa Marie (Tim) Maloney of Wheaton, Illinois, Christina Jane (Dale) Elmore of Crawfordsville, and Timothy Regan (Wendy) Servies of Indianapolis. Her children’s father and former husband, Max E. Servies also survive. She leaves behind a precious sister, Mary “Maureen” (Paul “Lavern”) French of Crawfordsville, a brother-in-law, George G. Feldman III, and 9 cherished grandchildren, Samantha Elmore, Tyler Maloney, Kylie Maloney, Caroline Maloney, Abigail Elmore, Andrew Maloney, Max Servies, Ellen Maloney, and Jack Servies. “Jane” is preceded in death by her parents and loving sister, Annie “Caroline” Feldman.
