SALEM – Martha Manis, age 87, died at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Salem Regional Medical Center. She was born September 11, 1930 in Salem, the daughter of the late Warren L. and Annis E. (Post) Rhodes.
Martha retired in 1992 from Sears – Southern Park Mall where she sold furniture. She previously worked at the Salem Sears as a telephone sales manager for catalog sales and was also a secretary at several area businesses. Martha was a former member of Winona United Methodist Church then attended Southeast Friends Church. She was very independent and in her younger years, she loved to go dancing. Martha was a very loving mother and grandmother.
Her husband, James “Al” A. Manis, Sr., whom she married July 4, 1951, preceded her in death November 13, 1963.
Survivors include two sons, Terry (Deb) Manis of Salem; Randy (Simone) Manis of Appomattox, VA; a daughter, Cathy (John) Dominic of Leetonia; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Two brothers, Warren and John Rhodes and two sons, James A. Manis Jr. in 2004 and Jeffrey Manis in 2008 also preceded her in death.
