Martha I. Imel Baker, 87, Anderson, died March 31, 2011, at Alexandria Care Center.

She was born March 7, 1924, in Jackson County, Indiana, and resided in Anderson. Martha lived most of her life in Anderson and 30 years in Okeechobee, and back in Anderson for the last 4 years. She was a Craft Teacher at Indian River Community College in Okeechobee and retired in 1997.

She is survived by her daughter; Darlene Rhoads of Anderson and her son; John David Baker of Anderson. Daughter-in-law; Sharon Baker of Richmond, VA. Siblings; Earl Wilbur Imel’s wife, Elizabeth of Pendleton, Orval James Imel of Indianapolis, and Vera Laurie Miller’s husband, Richard “Stretch” of Battle Creek, MI. Five grandchildren; Albert Baker III of Richmond, VA, Lloyd Rhoads of Ann Arbor, MI, Edward Rhoads of Indianapolis, Jasmine Baker of Anderson, and Erica Baker of Anderson. Two Great-grandchildren; Tara Baker and Schuyler Baker. Several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; David Harold & Mable Armfield Imel. A husband whom she married on March 2, 1946, in Miami, Florida; Albert F. Baker passed in 2000. Brother; Robert Imel. Sisters; Anna Marie Imel, Dorothy Jane Imel, and son; Albert Baker, Jr.
