Martha Gadson-Benjamin (aka Titay) a loving wife, mother, grandmother, beautiful sister, awesome aunt, and much more to others was born on February 28, 1945 in Eutawville, SC to the late Paul M. Gadson and Estelle H. Gadson. There were three siblings, Robert Lee Gadson, Paul Gadson, Jr. and Earnestine G. Frasier, who also preceded her in death.
Martha Gadson-Benjamin was united in marriage to Wilber (aka Bennie) Benjamin; this union lasted until her death. She was such a loving and caring individual that she not only raised her own two children, she also raised several foster children, four of whom she adopted.
She was educated in Orangeburg County but moved to Manhattan, NY at an early age. Martha was employed as a Nurse’s Aide and later she obtained her Cosmetology license. Later in life she opened her home to foster care children because there were children in need of a loving home.
Fond memories will be reflected by her loving husband, Wilber; two daughters, Barbara (Todd) Johnson and Cynthia Maxwell Gadson; four sons, Gregory Gadson, Richard Gadson, Nathaniel Gadson, and Joe Gadson; a brother, Willie Joe (Eva) Gadson; three grandchildren, Tameka Johnson, Monique Johnson and Gregory Gadson, Jr.; sister-in-law, Diane Gadson; brother-in-law, Lucky Fraiser; two aunts; Ella Gadson and Mary Lee Gadson; a lifelong friend, Mary Smalls Bannister, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
