Martha E. (Elizabeth/Liz) Logan, loving Mother and Grandmother and a long-time resident of Springfield, VA, passed away peacefully at Chancellor Gardens Assisted Care Center in Clearfield, UT. on Friday the 18th of January after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She moved to Clearfield, UT to be closer to family in August 2010. She shed a single tear at the time of her passing from the old world to the new.
Elizabeth was born in 1924 in Gatewood, W. VA., the daughter of Walter and Abigail Rodes. She married Edward Logan on November 10, 1951.
Elizabeth received her Bachelor’s of Science in Education at West Virginia Institute of Technology in 1945. Elizabeth had a career shift and worked for many years in the newspaper business as one of the first women linotype operators. She worked for various newspapers, the last being the Washington Post from where she retired.
Liz loved eating out and being with family and friends. She also enjoyed bowling and playing cards with friends. Her heart was a big as all outdoors and her smile and laugh would light up a room. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could find enjoyment anywhere. She was a sports fan and enjoyed watching a variety of sports on TV – especially the Washington Redskins.
Mom was a devoted Christian and a member of the Springfield Church of Christ for many years and we would like to express our deepest appreciation for all the assistance provided to her prior to her moving to Utah.
She is survived by her daughter Brenda Logan Karch of Roy, UT, her granddaughter Sharon Pape and two great granddaughters Shailly and Jace, all of Pinedale, WY. In addition to her husband (Ed), she was preceded by a son, Mark A. Logan and two brothers, Carl and Walter Lee Rodes.
