Martha E. Goodpaster Thomas, 59, Hope, died May 28, 2007 at Columbus Regional Hospital after a brief illness. She was born February 25, 1948 and resided in Hope, Indiana. She moved from Anderson two years ago. Martha previously had been an insurance agent for Farm Bureau.
She was an Alexandria High School graduate. Martha was an avid bingo player and loved to go to flea markets.
She is survived by her two children: Shyla & husband Bill Sloan of Hodgenville, Kentucky and Jay Thomas of Elwood. Five brothers: Max & wife Alma Goodpaster of Alexandria, Calvin & wife Marylin Goodpaster of North Vernon, Donnie & wife Janet Goodpaster of Hayden, Jimmie Goodpaster of Leesburg, Florida and Leroy & wife Michelle Goodpaster of St. Petersburg, Florida. Three sisters: Connie & husband Jerry Taulman of North Vernon, Kay Ryan of Alexandria and Beverly Francis of Hope. Six grandchildren: Lauren Clark, Tyler Clark, Jonathan Clark, Jocelyn Thomas, Jordyn Thomas and Jacob Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ted & Gladys Stevens Goodpaster. Sister: Addie Allyene Richards. Brother: David Goodpaster.
