Martha Dorothy Valentine passed away on April 23, 2022, in Canon City, Colorado. She was born on January 23, 1932, to John and Gladys (Gooding) Colbert. Martha lived for many years in Gunnison, Colorado, before moving to Colorado Springs in 1968. In 1984, she moved to Canon City where she resided until her death. She was good at many things, and worked at Lasting Impressions and Hallmark, both in Canon City, she was also a waitress and cook at various restaurants throughout her life, but what she loved the most was working in school cafeterias both in Gunnison and Canon City, because of her love for kids. Martha began volunteering at the Golden Age Center in Canon City, where she met her husband, Lee Valentine. They were married on September 7, 2014.

Martha loved quilting and sewing, and was once the Grand Champion of the Colorado State Fair for an American flag quilt that she created. It now hangs in the Bruce McCandless Veteran’s Home in Florence, Colorado. She loved butterflies, Nascar, going on walks, playing bingo, and above all, cooking for her family. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Martha is survived by her husband, Lee Valentine; brother, Harold Colbert, children, Bei J Smith of Waco, TX, Yolanda (A.D.) Hodges of Colorado Springs, Condelario (Tracy) Woodson of Pueblo, Rosalie Cammel (Richard Counce) of Ellicott, Art (Bonnie Lee) Woodson of Swink, Barbara Ann (David) Grondahl of Pueblo, Charlotte (Mike) Gremmer of Colorado Springs, Eunice (Sam) Sibert and Michelle (Daniel) Vaughn; sister-in-law, Eleanor; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her extended family, Donna (John) Hutchinson of Tennessee, Gwenna (Bob) Basham of Canon City, Selena (Paul) Heckler of Oklahoma, Vera (Roger) Gillespie of Pueblo, and Gary (Renee) Valentine of Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Orland Woodson; her parents, daughters, Dixie and her husband Fred Wahl, Dorothy June Woodson, and Kittie Koseck; grandchildren, Louis Cammel, Raymond Cammel, and Dorothy Higbee; and great-great-grandchildren, Timothy Gillespie, Robert Phillips III, Jason Garrett, and Shayna Croft; son-in-law, Chuck Cammel; brothers, Eugene Colbert and Art Colbert and great-great-granddaughter, Shanna.
