Martha D. Rodriguez (Davis) passed on June 28, 2017.
She was born in the Clewiston, FL on July 22, 1938 to Ethel and William Davis. She graduated from Clewiston High School in 1956. Upon graduation, she attended, first Florida State University, before continuing her studies at the University of Florida. In 1961 she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
She began her teaching career shortly thereafter. After teaching her first year in Daytona Beach, she moved to Brevard County and started teaching in Merritt Island, FL where she would remain teaching for the remainder of her 39 year career.
On July 2, 1965 she married John Rodriguez, her loving husband and best friend of 47 years.
During her teaching career in Merritt Island, she taught at Audubon Elementary, helped open Tropical Elementary and Jefferson Junior High Schools before teaching the gifted programs at both Gardendale Elementary and Tropical Elementary schools. It was at Tropical Elementary where she was affectionately known as “The Clewiston Princess”. She retired from teaching in 2002
She is survived by sons (Marcelo, Randy, Lance and Dacks), daughter-in-laws (Nicole, Mary and Amira), nephew (John), niece (Cynthia), grandsons (Adam, Cole, Jett) and a granddaughter (Karolina) as well as countless loving friends.
