Martha Ann Hoelscher passed away in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on Tuesday October 25, 2011 following a brief illness.
Martha was born in Community Hospital Geneva, Illinois on December 2, 1944 to E. Martin (Marty) and Helen L. (Smith) Hoelscher. She was raised in Geneva and attended St Patrick Grade School and Mount St Mary Academy in St Charles.
After graduation from high school in 1963, Martha traveled throughout Europe. On her return she continued to work for Bell Telephone Company before beginning her lifelong career in the title insurance industry in Illinois, Colorado and New Hampshire. In 1964 Martha was a representative of Illinois youth at the Democratic National Convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She loved reading and photography, and was concerned about the environment and social issues concerning the disadvantaged. Throughout her life she supported organizations dedicated to helping the less fortunate. She embraced her adopted home of Portsmouth, New Hampshire and was active in many community events.
