Marsha J. Knapp, 73, passed away on her own terms, at her home on Tuesday, October 15th. She was born June 2, 1940 in Williamsport, to the late Marion H. (Davis) Finnegan, whom she dearly loved. She was proud to be the granddaughter of the late Thomas and Estella R. (Buck) Davis, a centenarian. Deeply saddened by the death of her husband of 52 years, William P. Knapp, who passed on September 13th, Marsha was also saddened by the loss of her brother, Kenneth Weaver in 2012 and was preceded by an infant son, Tab.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Gywn R. Phillips of Williamsport; Ray (Tina) Knapp of Warrensville; Renay J. (Kevin) Wright of Montoursville; Crystal A. (John) Hauke of Cogan Station; and Troy R. Knapp of Williamsport. Marsha’s twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. To them she was affectionately known as “Mee-Mee”. She is also survived by her two sisters and sister in-law, all of whom she loved so much; Margo Fox of Loyalsock; Jeanine (Dennis) Hall of South Williamsport and Donna Weaver of Williamsport. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Marsha worked for many years in the hospitality industry and was proud to call herself a bartender. As an “empty nester” she embarked on a second career in the real estate business and was a member of the National Association of Realtors and the West Branch Board of Realtors.
She loved having her family around and always enjoyed cooking for them. She took great pride in cooking her traditional Pennsylvania Dutch meals. They will be missed. She relished the Holiday traditions and her home was always glowing with lights at Christmas. She loved a good laugh or a story from the good old days. Marsha truly enjoyed a simple chat on the porch with her neighbor and good friend, Chris Houseweart. Her passion for roses is evident by the many she planted through the years and her Koi pond in her “Garden of Weed’n” is admired by all who pass by.
