Marrietta J. Brinkmeier Schaney, 79, of Freeport, died Sunday, November 28, 2004, at Freeport Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. Born December 20, 1924, in Freeport she was the daughter of Isaac and Lillian (Smart) Hoffman. She married Don Brinkmeier on April 27, 1944, and he preceded her in death. She married George Schaney in 1978 and he preceded her in death. She worked for the Stephenson County Sheriff Department for 20 years retiring as a correctional officer. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her sons, James (Linda) Brinkmeier of Pearl City and Randall (Rita) Brinkmeier of Freeport; stepchildren, George (Rose Marie) Schaney Jr of Lena, Corke (Debra) Schaney of Freeport, Penny (Robert) Houck of Freeport, Laurie Jones of out of state; 4 grandchildren, Tammy (Kurt) Baldauf and Tina Cheeney both of Lena, Jeremy Brinkmeier of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Chet Brinkmeier of Pearl City; 11 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Daryl; 5 brothers; 4 sisters.
