Marques was preceded in death by his stepfather, Shelton R. Savage and grandfather William O. Mangum.

 

Marques affectionately known as “Black,” leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Jan’ice M. Savage and his father, Mr. Johnnie E. Whitley Sr.;  two sons, Malik Mangum and Quantavis Bynum, both of the home; two daughters, Riley Vick of the home and Doroy Davis of Farmville, NC; a very special companion, Monie Vick of Wilson; six sisters, Tiffany Burke (Ivan) of Smithfield, NC,  Chakela Knight (Charles) of Zebulon, NC, Jalia Whitley and Erica Shay Savage, both of Wilson, NC and Shaquana Whitley and Shameka Whitley, both of Florida; seven brothers, Johnnie Earl Langston of Smithfield, Jabbary Artis,  Antiono Barnes, Demond Mangum,  Johnnie Whitley, Jr., Elijah Whitley and Hakeem Whitley, all of Wilson, NC;  paternal grandmother, Mary Frances McDowell Mangum;  twenty-five nieces and nephews; eight aunts and two special aunts, Marjorie Mangum and Zina Becton; five uncles;  Godparents, Mr. Jimmie and Alberta Bynum Wilson; Special Friends, Darrel Bynum, Christopher Allen, Jeremy Guion, Corey Farmer, Zay Guion, and James Best; and a host of other relatives and friends.
