Marna McFarland, 72
Marna Joy Cain, McFarland was born March 15, 1940 on a farm in Clarke County to Jemima Ellen Roberts Cain and Clyde Elmer Cain. She departed to be with her Savior Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Brees Rest Home in Albia, Iowa at the age of 72 years.
Marna was an avid hunter. She was a great marksman with a rifle. She also enjoyed hunting morral mushrooms. She would go mushroom hunting rain or shine. Marna was a huge Elvis fan.
Marna loved to ride her horse, Poco and was very good at skiing and fishing. Marna had been married to Pete Chiri. After they parted ways, she met and married George McFarland and was blessed with a daughter Rhonda. The love of her life was Glen Mitchell. They made a great pair. Marna took care of Glen until his death.
One of Marna’s accomplishments was graduating from Ankeny’s School of Nursing in 1977. She worked at Chariton’s Nursing Care Center as an LPN. Marna really enjoyed being a nurse and was extremely interested in caring for the patients. She took her work very serious and gave great care.
Marna is survived by her sister Genevieve (Bobbie) Newman of Burlington, Iowa, brothers Robert Cain of Arizona, Donnie Cain of Missouri, her daughter Rhonda Bustamante of California and two grandsons. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Marna was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Francis Whitmore, Mary Kennedy, Joyce Allen, Elaine Cox and Patricia Walker, brothers Clyde Cain, Richard Cain, Clair Cain and also her soul mate Glenn Mitchell.
She will be sorely missed by her many friends and relatives.
