Marlyn Joy Howard 77, of Reedsville passed peacefully on Monday January 27, 2014 at Heartland of Preston County, in Kingwood. She was born May 9, 1936 in Masontown. Joy was a daughter of the late Millard and Elizabeth (Rice) Shaffer. She attended the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. She was a very kind and loving lady. Joy’s quick wit and humor always kept family and friends smiling. She is survived by her daughter Shannon Nemecek and her grandson Charles Lukas Nemecek; sister Merna Jean Tennant and husband Fred; her dear friend Judy Shubert; godson Robert Shoenberger; goddaughter Tammy LeRoy; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-four years Charles Melvin Howard; two brothers Millard Allen and Phillip “Ted” Theodore Shaffer, and sister Edith Fortney.
