MARLYCEANN “MARLYCE” STREICH

Marlyceann Marie was born on a spring day, April 13, 1938 in the tiny town of Argyle, MN. She was the second oldest of seven surviving children born to Ralph and Edith Laurin. Marlyce collected her angel wings on another spring day 80 years later, April 16, 2018 in Bakersfield, CA.

At the age of 15, she met the young man, John Streich, who would become her beloved husband. They were united in marriage March 29, 1958 in California where they had moved to seek a better life. Four children, Kevin, Kurt, Keith and Karen Lynae quickly arrived to fill the family home in Garden Grove, CA. A job transfer in 1967 brought her family to Taft, CA where she was to reside for the remainder of her life. It was here that their 5th child, Kyle was born.

After many years of being a stay at home mom, she began her numerous years of employment within the local school districts, ending her career at Buena Vista Continuation High School. During this busy period in her life, Marlyce carved out the time to earn her AA Degree in Early Childhood Education, a feat she was very proud of.

Our Mother will long be remembered for her devotion to family, stylish dress with the perfect accessories, including a ring for every finger, her immaculate home, and her awesome cooking and hosting abilities. Mom loved being a grandmother and adored being a GG (great grandmother). She was known to enjoy a good party, a glass of White Zin (with ice) and time spent with family and friends. Her sparkling smile could light up a room and when it was shining there was no better place to be than in its glow.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, her cherished grandson, Ryan, along with her parents and 3 siblings, Nancy, Dennis and Rick. Surviving Marlyce are her children, Kevin and Susan Streich, Kurt Streich and Tina Erberich, Keith Streich and Julie Saltsman, Karen and Lyle Barnes, and Kyle Streich. Her grandchildren, Kaysha and Sean Menge, Lynae Barnes, Sean and Lacey Streich, Kalen Streich, Laurin Herrera and Will Romero, and Derek Barnes and Savannah Sevedge. Her great grandchildren Gage, Colten and soon to arrive Ryker Streich, Alexis, Maddox and Preston Menge, Trey Herrera and Emily Romero and Knox Barnes. Also surviving are sisters Joyce (Willis) Johnson and Cheryl (Dennis) Henderson, one brother, Gary (Carolyn) Laurin, sister in laws Kay Arnold, Margaret Dufault, Mary Streich, and Selma Streich, numerous nephews and nieces, her best friend, Jo Carol Ong, her favorite dinner dates, the “Golden Girls”, Sandy Keller, Mary Clark, and Molly Ritter and her special neighbors, Rex and Loretta.
