Marlin E. Ditmer, 92, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, at Hubbard Hill Estates in Elkhart. He was born Sept. 23, 1922, in Potsdam, Ohio, to Russel P. and Della Irene (Huffman) Ditmer. On June 23, 1945, he married the love of his life, Elisabeth M. (Snook) Ditmer. She survives at home.
Other survivors include one daughter, Anne (Tony) Hemminger of Elkhart; two sons, Thomas (Becky) Ditmer of Mishawaka and James (Barbara) Ditmer of Granger; one sister, Ruth Beck of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Robert Ditmer. Marlin proudly served in the US Navy during World War II. He was the owner and operator of Ditmer Oil Co. for many years and for several years prior to his retirement he was the owner of Ditmer Trucking. He was a lifelong member of Bethany Missionary Church. Marlin often enjoyed golfing, fishing, flying his private plane, traveling abroad and spending winters in Florida.
Throughout his entire life, Marlin’s most precious priorities were his Heavenly Father and his family.
