Marlene S. Goodman, 85, of Weldon Spring, Missouri, formerly of Centralia, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at her home. Marlene was born on May 11, 1933 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Hugo W. and H. Juanita Niemann and passed away in St. Charles, Missouri on March 30, 2019.

She married Howard E. (Bud) Goodman on July 21, 1951 at the First Baptist Church in Centralia, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on June 16, 2001. Survivors include a son, Mark H. Goodman of Houston, Texas, and a daughter, Tara L. Waltrip and husband David of St. Charles, Missouri, five grandchildren, Justin Goodman of Texas; Brandon Goodman of Miami, Florida; Lauren Waltrip, Jenna Slayden and husband Sean; and Paige Lemasters and husband Marcus of the metropolitan St. Louis, Missouri area. Marlene is further survived by five great grandchildren, Lexi, Kenzie, Colton, Adalyn, and Savannah Goodman of Texas; by a special niece, Mary Kaye Waggoner of Florida; nephews and nieces, Phillip T. Corbell, David Waggoner, Jim Waggoner and wife Connie, Mel Oftedahl and wife Margie, Linda Aitken; several great nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews who were all very special people in her life.

In addition to her husband of 50 years, Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, sister Norma Waggoner, Barbara Corbell, brothers-in-law Jim Waggoner, Phil Corbell, Wendell Lamblin, Earl Oftedahl, sisters-in-law; Dorothy Lamblin, Maureen Oftedahl and Janice Rutherford; and nephews Rick Waggoner and Ralph L. Corbell. Marlene graduated from Centralia Township High School in 1951. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Centralia, past member of the Zion United Church of Christ of Central City for 18 years, a Lady of the Elks, The Golden Gems, a former member of The Red Hat Society, and a past member of Delta Theta Tau sorority.

Marlene was employed at Universal Butane Company for 18 years and retired from Universal Packaging Corp as the Office Manager on July 1, 1997 after 23 years of service. Marlene always enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, and was an avid scrap booker. She was active in the CTHS Class of 1951 (“The 51 Club”) and, until she moved to Missouri in 2011, she helped plan their class reunions. Marlene loved to plant flowers and decorate for all holidays, however, her love for Christmas was boundless.
