Marlene Gearhart Nelson, 74, of Stony Pointe, North Carolina and formerly of Three Oaks, died Sunday, September 27, 2009 at the Gordon Hospice House where she had stayed for her final days. Marlene was born July 10, 1935 in Three Oaks, to John and Elizabeth Gearhart and grew up in Three Oaks.
She married George Nelson in South Bend, Indiana. They celebrated 57 years of marriage in June. They moved to North Carolina when George relocated with Clark Equipment Company. Marlene enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She loved cooking and created wonderful meals for her family.
Survivors include her husband, George; children, Barbara Nelson Powers, George O. Nelson Jr, Timothy Nelson and Edwin Nelson, all of Stony Pointe; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; brothers, Lloyd Gearhart of Three Oaks and George Gearhart of Colorado and sisters, Louise Ahnstedt of Colorado, Mary Lou Bladecki of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, and Sharon Feirick of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 sisters.
