Marlene Elveta (Ashby) White was born May 24, 1916 to Schuyler and Mae (Holder) Ashby in rural Lucas County and passed away at Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center on November 21, 2014.
May 1934, Marlene graduated from Melcher High School after which time she moved to Chariton being employed by local families caring for their homes hoping in time to become a teacher.
Marlene met Kenneth B. White and on March 6, 1937 were married at the Baptist Parsonage in Chariton and she became a full time homemaker. They began their married life in rural Lucas and Marion counties, a marriage that lasted for 75 years. Two children were born to this marriage, Marlin Eugene in 1939 and Linda Kay in 1941. They settled on a farm in English Twp. in 1947.
Marlene was a mother to Marlin (Linda) of Chariton, Linda (Bob) Halden of Rotonda West, FL., grandmother to Mark, Tim, Kevin White, Heidi Moore, Jay and Kent Halden, great grandmother to Brian, Andrea,Brett, Tori,Brittany, and Ty White, Brendon and Shaun Eilander, Jillian and Schuyler Moore, Connor and Olivia Halden and great great grandmother to Brandt Kenneth and Norah White.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth White in 2012; her parents, her sister, Lucille Stierwalt. She leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends.
