Marlena Louise Darby
The daughter of the late Ruffice Frederick Smith and Sadie Pearl Marie (Crane) Mendiola, Marlena was born on December 29, 1956 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and passed away on October 4, 2022 in a Houston, Texas hospital at the age of 65 years, 9 months and 5 days.
She and William Lee Darby were married September 2, 1995 in Wheeler, Texas.
Marlena grew up in Oklahoma City, Davis and Alaska. She was a self employed housekeeper. In her leisure time Marlena enjoy animal especially dogs and horses, plants, and doing home improvement projects on her house but most of all spending time with her children and grandkids. She was proud of her Mississippi Choctaw Heritage.
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband, William; son, Shawn Lee Gillespie; daughters, Nicole Elizabeth Copeland and Melissa Gillespie; sisters, Melvinna
Hicks, Linda Brandenberger, Tracy Silverdear, Leslie Durham and Maria Mediola; brother, WIlliam Buster Smith; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Timothy D. Gillespie, sister, Saundra McClain; brother, Gerald Smith and a granddaughter, Shelby Gillespie.
